Where does the basic organic raw material come from?
Mar 21, 2018

The main basic organic materials are triene (ethylene, propylene, butadiene), triphenyl (benzene, toluene, xylene), methanol, ethanol, formaldehyde, acetic acid, and epoxy compounds. They are made by processing various chemical processes using oil, coal, and natural gas that are abundant in nature. This type of product is generally not directly used for people's lives, but it is a monomer for producing three major synthetic materials (synthetic resin, synthetic fiber, and synthetic rubber), and is also an important raw material for synthetic chemicals such as detergents, pharmaceuticals, dyes, and spices. Intermediates.

Earlier, people used to make organic chemicals from plants and animals. The development of the iron and steel industry in the 18th century promoted the production of coke. Coal coke produced by coking contains hundreds of compounds, which constitute the basic chemical raw materials for explosives, dyes, and drugs. In the 1930s, calcium carbide was used as raw material to produce acetylene, and acetylene was used to produce basic organic materials.

Since 1920, the United States has begun to use crude oil and natural gas as raw materials to make basic organic synthetic chemical products. Its preparation method is much simpler than the acetylene method, and therefore the cost is much lower. By the end of the 1960s, more than 80% of the basic organic raw materials in foreign countries were produced from oil and natural gas. Synthetic resins, synthetic fibers, synthetic rubber, and other materials are almost 100% dependent on basic organic raw materials for petroleum production. Since then, they have entered the petrochemical industry with petroleum as raw materials.

Synthetic materials, as a substitute for natural materials, are superior in many properties. Basic organic synthetic products can be used to produce agricultural films, chemical fertilizers, insecticides, insecticides and plant growth agents, and play an important role in agricultural modernization. The basic organic synthesis industry also provides specialty solvents, high-energy fuels, and special-performance synthetic material monomers for the development of advanced science and technology for defense.

In short, the basic organic synthesis industry has established a very close relationship with the national economy and people’s lives.
